Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Do I need to fill out a waiver, even if I am not climbing?

YES! Anyone who goes beyond our front desk must have a waiver on file, regardless of whether or not you will be climbing or participating. Children under 18 years of age must have the waiver signed by their parent or court-appointed guardian. We will not accept waivers signed by family friends or extended family. Click to fill out a waiver.

Do I need to make a reservation?

With the exception of the waiver and facility orientation, anyone can just come in to climb during normal business hours. We offer online day pass purchases here.

However, if you are planning on bringing a group of 10 or more in, we STRONGLY recommend making a reservation due to gear and space availability.

What are your prices?

There are lots of entrance fee options depending on how often you would like to climb with us. We offer memberships, day passes, and 10 visit punch-passes. For more information, visit our day passes page or our memberships page.

Can I drop off my kids?

No. With the exception of our youth classes and summer camps, ages 3-13 MUST be accompanied by, and under direct supervision of an adult (18+).

Are there age requirements for climbing?

The minimum age requirement to climb at our facility is 3 years old. To manually belay, the age requirement is 14 years old.

There is no age requirement for the ropes course, however, there is a minimum height requirement of 54 inches (four-and-a-half feet).

Can I bring food into the gym?

We allow water, sports drinks, and snacks in the gym area. We ask that our guests who would like to bring their own snacks stay mindful of food allergies.

Climbing Questions

I'm new to climbing. Do you give orientations and training?

Our staff will give you a first-time orientation on how to clip-in and out of the auto-belays, as well as safety rules and procedures. After this safety orientation, you will be able to use any auto-belay, boulder.

We do not give orientations on climbing techniques, as this is reserved for our classes and private lessons. But, our staff stays out on the floor of the gym to oversee safety and answer any quick questions you may have.

Do I have to rent gear?

Harnesses are available for rent and are required for using top rope, auto belays and the ropes course. A harness is not needed for bouldering.

If you do not have closed-toed tennis shoes with you, you will be required to rent our climbing shoes. You do not have to rent climbing shoes, but we recommend trying them out at least once to compare climbing shoes versus tennis shoes. We do not provide socks.

Traditional powdered chalk and liquid chalk rental is not required, but may help if you find yourself slipping often while climbing.

Do you have auto-belays?

Yes! Our gym has 5 auto-belays, with each lane having a minimum of 3 routes.

What is the difference between a belay and auto-belay?

Auto-belays are a great way to climb to the top of our walls when you have no one to belay you. During the facility orientation, we will show you how to properly use the auto-belays. Anyone who has participated in this orientation may use the auto-belays.

Belaying is the act of managing the rope to protect a climber. The belayer is there to control the slack in the safety system, catch a climber if they fall, and lower them down when they’re finished climbing. This is a crucial skill to learn and refine, and you may request a belay certification course from our staff.

Party and Group Event Questions

Can I bring food and cake for a birthday party or group event?

If you have a scheduled party or event that includes the party room rental, yes. If you did not previously make a reservation, no. We do not have the space for cake, food, and presents in the climbing areas. The party room is available for rent even if you do not have a formal party or group event, however, this option still requires a reservation, and we cannot guarantee availability if you request renting the room upon arrival. Information about parties and group events can be found here, and reservations may be made here.
